Gypsy's Snow Globe Empty
PostSubject: Gypsy's Snow Globe   Gypsy's Snow Globe EmptyTue Mar 03, 2009 11:56 pm

"Welcome one and all! The Greyshore Festival of Fun is open to everyone that wants a break from this plagued world!"

Vendors and customers of all types roamed the grassy fields looking at wares and playing games. There were artists, actors, musicians, and one fortune teller...

"Ma'dam Ithal's seeing eye is available to any and all peasants!"

A few people got their fortune's told. Some would find riches, some would find glory. Once, for amusement, Ithal told a woman she'd find her long lost twin mother. The woman then decided she'd better go somewhere her twin mother could find her.

All in all, it was a slow day. So far none seemed appropriate.

Were there any peasants in this damn city that dreamt of becoming champions?

OOC: Ok, just to make it clearer.

I'm looking for any race of character. Feel free to play whatever you want.

However, do NOT choose a class. All the characters are peasants. Merchants, farmers, drunks, blah blah blah...

However, Madame Ithal is hoping to give these poor bored, average folk some excitement in their lives.

So, I just need a name, race, and some personality. Leave the class section blank.

Oh, and as a warning. There will be character deaths. Hows that for excitement?

PostSubject: Re: Gypsy's Snow Globe   Gypsy's Snow Globe EmptySun Mar 08, 2009 6:08 pm

Urk walked through the festival in Greyshore. Normally the festival was a time of fun and excitement. But with the War of Decimation under way, everywhere people turned, there were depressed faces. Lines were short for rides and games. Cook threw out food that had gone bad that no one bought. And rumors of Peregren's fall were of such a variety that the city guard of Greyshore wasn't sure if they should prepare for an undead invasion or not.

Ever since daylight had returned, Greyshore also seemed oddly different to Urk.

Smaller.

When he had left Riddik as a child and eventually arrived in Greyshore the place seemed huge....and intimidating.

Now, the city seemed small...enclosed....and dull.

maybe it was the darkness of perpetual night that kept the wonder and curiosity alive in Urk for so long. Or maybe it wondering what kind of adventure lay outside of the city walls...either way, Urk now found himself very unimpressed with the city and wondering if leaving Riddik as a child so many years ago, only to become a drab and boring farmer, was worth the trouble.

As Urk walked through the festival he heard various vendors half-heartedly shouting their sales pitches to passerby's.

However one seemed more enthusiastic that the rest.

It was at this point Urk found Ma'dam Ithal's tent and booth at the festival...

"Ah, I've caught the eye of a curious minotaur, have I not"

Ithel walked up to the minotaur and batted her eyes and escorted Urk to the chair where she'd read his fortune...

"I assure you sir, you will not be disa- oh my!"

She looked focused into her crystal ball.

"I see, I see... You were at an arena were you not? Yes... You wished to be a champion. Yes, I see... The tournament was canceled?"

*Tsk, tsk, tsk*

"You would have gone, far I can see. Shame, but perhaps I can help you? Yes, yes. Take this..."

Ithel handed Urk a card. It had a figure of a shield. The shield warded off a skull with black flames.

"There you go, now. All will be fixed. This card is yours. Now shoo!"

As quickly as she had pulled the minotaur to her stall, she was pushing him away.

"You must wait for your allies, now. Shoo!"

Urk left the tent and made his way back to the rest of the fair, staring at the card in confusion.

"Allies?" he said confused.

"But I don't even have any friends."

Paying it no heed and thinking the old woman to be crazy he tossed the card to the ground and continued on through the fair.

Olana Linder walked across the fair and into Madame Ithal's tent after a minotaur was thrown out.

"Wow, a Fortune-Teller!" Olana said smiling.

She walked into the tent and glanced around. It was small and pretty, a little unusual and cozy. Inthe middle sat a table with a crystal ball on it.

"Hello, are you Madame Ithal?" She asked a woman in the room

The gypsy was busy lighting some incense, when the elf woman came in. Luckily, the woman asked the gypsy her name.

"Ah!" she was glad to see another guest. "That I am. Would you like me to read your fortune from this madame?"

Madam Ithal sat down at her table and began to gaze into the blue and green crystal. A peach colored light began to shine through.

"Arcane energy, see as I gaze into my crystallurgy? You have a gift. Do you know of it yet? Or is it tucked away in a slumber, I wonder?"

The gypsy woman looked up steadily and gave a soft smile. She drew a card, much like the minotaurs. This card, however, had a staff. Or was it a spear? There was a sharp crystal at the end that could be a spear head or a staff's gem. Wrapped around the pole of the staff/spear, there was a whip.

"Keep this with you, elf maiden. May it relieve any of your laden."

She didn't rush the elf out like she did the minotaur, but would any more visitors arrive Ithal wondered?

Urk stopped, when he saw the elven woman enter the Gypsie's tent.

"Heh," he snorted, finding it funny that the elf woman would now have to deal with the crazy old fortune teller.

He stood watching.

And watching.

And watching.

And watching.

The elf woman didn't come out.

"Hrm," he mumbled and walked back to the tent.

"Ma'am," he began as he walked back inside of the tent.

Ragon was a farmer in the region. However, things were very stressful lately. The Civil Agents were everywhere. His family was becoming repressed.

The fair was mildly entertaining. However, nothing really caught his eye until he saw a booth with two women and a minotaur.

Ragon noticed one of them was a gypsy fortune teller. He walked closely. He had heard of them, looking into orbs and finding truths about people. Or so that's what Ragon thought. He shyly approached.

The tent was almost stuffed with people, yet he peeked his head through, past the minotaur.

It was small, decorated with many things. He saw the crystal ball and all the trinkets near the back wall.

Gems, beads, necklaces, symbols, a snow globe with the snow falling on a mansion, a monkey paw hanging from a string, and several skulls. Some aniver, paired with the smaller model of the animals the aniver resembled.

"Minotaur, you return again? You're as sticky as tar."

Then a human farmer peeked his head in.

"Ah! Your next ally. Soon you will find you have an army to rally. Sit you ninny. It is time for destiny!"

The gypsy "helped" the elf woman up and shoved her and the minotaur to the side of the tent. She would allow them to continue to watch, but she was still miffed at the disobedient minotaur, she winked at him though.

"Yes, farmer boy. You wish for you path to be known? For you to find Joy? I will give it you. Through my crystal it will be shown..."

She gazed into the orb and studied it.

"Ah! The quick, the lithe, you move with bow and knife. Strong as an acrolith, you give friends the the aid in their life."

She drew another card. This one, given to Ragon, had the art of a bow, with a notched arrow, and a knife.

"The journey is almost here! Keep these cards with you. Don't let them be dropped or stolen by thief or air."

She then pulled a card and gave it to the minotaur. It was the same as the last one. Except the black fiery skull was facing Urk rather than the shield.

Also, I appreciate the offer ma'am but their are other games here at the carnival I'd like to try as well. Plus I need to be getting back to the farm soon. Perhaps I can stop by your tent another time," Urk finished. He didn't want to be rude to the old woman, but clearly she was a few oxen short of a full wagon train, and Urk was getting hungry.

"You may leave, minotaur. I only assumed you wished to stay because you came back after I shooed you. This time, just keep the card with you. Even in a pocket, it doesn't matter."

"Feed your belly, yes I know you're hungry, your stomach's about to growl. Go as you wish. Play those games. Return home, just don't lose the card."

"Oh, and minotaur, I know what the card was before was and what it is now. Anyone may leave as they wish."

Young Xxaldian was tired of walking and his eye caught the sight of a carnival.

"I guess I could take a little break." Xxaldian walked to the carnival and sees a

dully lit place with merchants halfheartedly yelling out their wares and the rides with very short lines, but he then turns to see a miotaur,an elf,and a human (perhaps a farmer) near the tent.

"Hmm, this must be the tent of Ma'dam Ithal.Mabe she can tell me my destiny."

Young Xxaldian, taking a break from his journy for a master, decided he might as well see this fortune teller and rest up.

Young Xxaldian approached the tent hoping for his destiny and maybe a little understanding from his twisted past and unknown future...

"Come back here you sonofabitch!!!" one of the guards yelled, already running out of breath. He was trying to make his way through the crowds, but the much nimbler Riverfol was faster.

Hoopak jumped over a baby stroller, slid under a table, stopped for a moment to browse through a vendor's candy stall, ran through a clothes store, paused once more upon seeing more riverfolk with shiny objects, greeted them, talked for about 5 minutes and discovered they were 27th cousins (almost brothers!), he then got a glass of water and waited.

The guard walked up slowly, near passing out, "You surrender.. you lil bastard?"

"Nope! More fun if I let you catch up though!" He ran off again, leaving a confused guard.

He slid easily through the crowd, then ran into a strange looking tent, bumping into a large minotaur. "Hullo up there!" he yelled the cow man. He poked the minotaur's gut, "You know, your fatter than most minotaurs I've met"...

PostSubject: Re: Gypsy's Snow Globe   Gypsy's Snow Globe EmptySat Mar 28, 2009 4:14 pm

Madame Ithel looked at the emerging rivefolk and elf that have entered.

"They say they come in threes, but I believe in pairs is more likely for our group. You seem to all have joined at once, too."

The elf and rivefolk were both here, and without cards. Well, it seemed the riverfolk was more enthralled in his constructive criticism of the minotaur.

"Elf, sit. I have your fortune to read. Once you are finished, it will be the turn of the riverfolk. You are an odd group, aren't you?"

As the elf sat down in front of the crystal, Ithel took her seat and began to focus.

"A warrior, are you? Well, perhaps. Hmm... yes... You will be a charmer."

She drew a new card.

The elf was given the card and gazed at it. A Black Rose with torn petals lay on the bottom of the card. A flute and blanket hovered above, in the foreground.

"As I've told the others, this card is yours. Do not lose it. Keep it with you till the end of the day. That goes for you too, riverfolk. Would you like your fortune and card?"

"The rebirth of my new world will make all right again," Calhera, the Goddess of Vengeance stated as she sat on the throne.

"The body of Erron yet lives. And the body of Talkren lies dead. I am nearly half way to my goal. And once I get there...this world will be born anew with only I as it's over lord. A world without undead, without cannibalistic agents, a world without the pain and death and destruction that this one has seen for far too long.

The end draws near..."

The elf was given his card, then the riverfolk.

Hoopak's had a pair of spectacles, but the glass was darkly tinted. Also, the card had a strange box on it.

"Now, the group is set. There is nothing more for me to do for you. It is all up to you. Go! Now, leave. Enjoy your carnival, don't lose the cards, and sleep well!"

Everyone was pushed outside of the tent, and left to stand outside. A thick curtain sealed the entrance from sight and re-entry.

The group eventually dispersed, once the guard began catching up to Hoopak.

Everyone went their own ways and did what they wanted at the fair. Some may have found each other and spent time together, but that is not important. What is important, is what happened that night...

One by one, each guest to Madame Ithel's tent was put to sleep. They slept in beds, hay stacks, bars, wherever.

Once asleep, the magic began. The card they were given, the card each one (including Urk) remembered to hold onto, activated.

Urk, Olana, Ragon, Xxaldiin, and Hoopak awoke in a giant room. It seemed to be part of a giant mansion. The room was tall, and beautiful. The walls were expensive dark wood. The floors were tiled marble. The room had four walls. Each was locked... and each had only the clothes they wore, and their cards in hand (or hoof). Besides the beautiful walls and floor, and the five inside, the room was empty...

Hoopak looked around the room, it was quite plain indeed. He yawned, looked once more, then said the dreaded words that no one wants to hear a riverfolk utter:

"Did the minotaur go bad? He stinks."

Hurtful, but not the dreaded words intended. These:

"I'm hungry," he said bouncing around the room.

This time, we swear:

"I'm bored," and time, for those present, nearly stopped. There was almost nothing scarier than a bored riverkin....

Gypsy's Snow Globe Empty
PostSubject: Re: Gypsy's Snow Globe   Gypsy's Snow Globe EmptyMon Apr 06, 2009 12:58 am

"Welcome guests, to the my snow globe. This will be your home for a while. But... as the riverfolk said, it is rather... 'boring'. I think I can help with that... Look at your cards, please."

The voice of Madame Ithal appeared from no where in the room, but could be heard from anywhere in the room. And as they looked at the cards they held, the pictures on the paper cut outs replaced the cards themselves.

Urk held a large shield. It had a reflective sheen to it.

Hoopak now wore dark tinted glasses, and held a box. When he opened it, bubble gum was inside.

Ragon found himself holding a bow and quiver, and a knife on his belt.

Olana wielded her spear/staff and whip.

Finally, Xxaldin. The man found his card was torn and muddy. Apparently someone *did* forget to hold onto their cards.

*Tsk, tsk, tsk*

Watch closely minotaur. What would have happened had you not held onto your second card?

Xxaldin screamed in pain. He began to smoke. It was coming out of his clothes and mouth and ears and... well, other areas. Finally, his flesh began to melt. The skin dripped and started to pool below the man... or what was left of the man.

His bones were stripped clean, and his eyes twisted and turned, seeing the world still, held in the sockets by nothing. Finally, he was silenced, as his bones crumpled to the floor. The mess of skin and flesh and bone seemed to dissolve and collect. In seconds, the man's body was replaced by a key. It was made of bone... A skeleton key.

"So my ants, explore your home. Keep in mind, I have rules and games for each room. Though, once we run out of games, I suppose I'll have to take you back to where you need to be..."

"The toys I gave you should help. They have certain powers. They should be fun. Now, riverfolk. That box is neat. Sometimes, when you open it, there will be something really great inside. Other times... just candy. But that's nice too."

"Elf woman, Olana. You have a nice whip there. It's crack will sting foes, and if you use it in the right places, you can go places you didn't think you could reach!"

"Minotaur... your shield... its shiny..."

"Human farmer, Ragon. Your bow and arrows aren't sharp. They're more... 'knock things over with' items. Also... the knife... It's not REALLY a knife... But it does cut things! Sometimes..."

"Well... you're all set... what do we play first?"
